Township Members of Days Gone By

We would like to thank everyone that has served Surrey Township and helped it grow into what it has become today.


Larry Laverty:

 

Mr. Laverty is a graduate of the Farwell area schools and of Central Michigan University. His previous service to Surrey Township include Supervisor and Assessor for four and a quarter years, Trustee for 20 years, Zoning Board of Appeals Chairman, and Planning Commission Chairman. Always involved, Laverty serves as the current Chairman of the Surrey Township Library as well as Chairman for the Surrey Township Cemetery Board. As well as a lengthy history of Township service, Laverty also served the county as the Southwest Parks and Recreational Committee Secretary. This same committee established the ball fields in Garfield and Lincoln Townships and the tennis courts in the Village of Farwell. Mr. Laverty currently resides in Farwell with his wife, Mignon. His hobbies include working on his tree farm, making maple syrup and most of all spoiling his grandchildren.
